Are you weighing yourself properly?

ree

Don’t make these mistakes

I see it all the time…

People stroll into the gym and jump on the scales.

Honestly, the number that pops up is pretty much useless!

By the end of this email, you’ll know exactly why!

Now, I should preface this, with the fact that not everyone needs to/should be weighing themselves regularly.

But if you are…

At least do it right!

Here are 4 tips to ensure you weigh yourself properly:

1) Timing: do it first thing in the morning, but after you’ve been to the toilet.

  • The weight of your food or drink fluctuates massively.

2) Clothing: as little as practically possible.

  • Underwear v trackies and a hoodie is a huge difference!

3) Location: try to use the same scales on the same flat, hard surface

  • Scales vary slightly, but flooring varies a lot - especially if there is any give on the floor.

4) Repetition:  repeat for at least 3 consecutive days and take an average.

  • We usually fluctuate 1-3kg daily depending on hormones, exercise, hydration, food weight etc. so averages are needed to give a fair picture.

I hope that clears things up!

Take care,

Sean
